Marina Bay Sands Area
We started exploring Singapore around 10am. We first bought a ticket for the metro and then walked along the esplanade to Marina Bay Sands. The heat was still rising. We had a nice view of The ArtScience Museum and The Marina Bay Sand Hotel with the boat on the top.
It did not take long before we were thirsty so we decided to go to the Shoppes mall. Wowww, This was the greatest shopping mall ever! We drank a healthy fruit juice with ginger and were set to explore other things. But I already felt that it was not that easy to leave the food court… My goodness, everything looked so delicious. That place was going to play an important role during my holiday :-).
We then visited Future World, the ArtScience museum, Wonderland and the floating Utopia’s. We really enjoyed those visits. Here a selection of the photo’s that we took :
We then walked through the Marina Bay Sands Hotel to catch a glimpse of the Gardens on the bay and the Supertree Grove. The hotel is immense…
Kampong Glam, the Muslim Quarter
We took our first metro towards Kampong Glam, the muslim quarter with its 19th century shophouses. It is also the area where you find street art, restaurants as well as the golden domed Sultan Mosque. The vibe of this area was a really pleasant one. So we made plans to return there one night for dinner.
After having discovered Kampong Glam, we decided to have a drink and a small bite. The Mexican restaurant in the above picture was the perfect place. So we ordered some beers and taco’s.
Today, we had walked for many kilometers and it was finally time to relax at the poolside The view from the pool could not be better. When looking straight ahead, we had the city view, when looking down, we saw the iconic Raffles Hotel.
We were very satisfied of our first full day in Singapore. It felt like a dream, a foodie paradise… I wanted to stay here forever !
