Breakfast at Nolu’s Cafe

We had breakfast at Nolu’s Cafe in the Galleria Mall. It was Mexican style for the three of us. Breakfast quesadilla’s and huevos rancheros…yummy. One thing was sure, we won’t be hungry right away.

Qasr Al Watan Palace

Then we headed to the presidential palace ‘Qasr Al Watan’. It took 7 years to complete the building and it was finally finished in 2017.

After we had bought our tickets, we got on a bus that drove us inside the complex grounds. We immediately got an idea on how big the site was.

It was the working residence of the President, the Vice President and the Crown Prince. Each of them had their own mini palace next to the main one. The latter, I adopted as my new home :-).

Unfortunately, we were not invited for lunch :-), but we decided at the end of the tour to stay for a royal tea.

The palace was overwhelming. We could only guess what it would have costed. The surface was as big as 53 football fields. There were 5000 decorative patterns for the walls and the light had a different colour depending on the time of day. We missed Putin yesterday… Anyway, the visit was really worth it!

Observation Deck at 300

Observation deck at 300 was our next stop. On the 74th floor in the Jumeirah At Ethiad Towers we had a 360 degree view of Abu Dhabi.

We first walked through the lobby where they had fantastic cakes displayed. Then our afternoon ended with a fantastic view and a matching drink.

For dinner, we had found a Peruvian restaurant ‘Coya’. It was already fully in the Halloween mood. We had to enter under an entrance with cobwebs. The food was excellent, we were able to try several dishes because it were sharing plates.

Especially the desserts were yummy, Manchego cheese tart and churros with chocolate and dulce de leche.

Now I understood better why we had a scale in our bathroom :-).
