Chinatown

It was a very calm start of the day because due to the alternation of very cold and very hot, we had both developed a bit of a cold. After 11am we went back to Chinatown for a discovery during the daylight. The shopping here is, as expected, a bit different and lower quality. But the architecture is nice. We decided then to visit another temple after which we walked back towards Raffles Quay to visit the famous Lau Pa Sat hawker center.

The Merlion

Lunch had passed in the meantime, so the hawker centre was quite empty. We then walked along the Promenade and the Merlion and then back to the hotel to recover from the heat. We decided to take a rest for the remaining part of the afternoon and to do another trip in the evening to the Supertree Grove for the light show.

Supertree Grove & Ce la vi

We left well on time because we had decided to pay the ‘ce la vi’ rooftop bar of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel a visit. We decided on the bar, because with adding 1 additional dollar to the entry fee, we could drink a cocktail with a view over Singapore city. The other alternative was the skypark observation deck (but obviously less interesting).

From the bar, we also saw the famous swimming pool which was completely overcrowded !!! We were so glad that we had not booked our accommodation here, like many tourist who wanted the pool experience. Even if we have to admit that the hotel was very special… so we understood the attraction.

We experienced the light show of the trees from 2 different locations, from the 57th floor at the hotel and in the park itself. The music that accompanied the light show was very well chosen.

Guess what we did next ? Indeed, we went back to the food court of the shoppes and decided on the steak that we had the first time.
