On our way to Stanley

We started our journey towards Stanley at 9.30am. It’s well known landmark is the Nut, an old extinct volcano. On our way, we first stopped in Wynyard, in Cafe Umami, for a really nice veggie breakfast consisting of quinoa, poached eggs, mushrooms, avocado and red cabbage. Then we continued to our accommodation for the night, the Stanley Seaview Inn. From our balcony we had a beautiful view over the village.

Climbing up The Nut

We dropped off our bags and drove straight to the Nut. The walk to reach the summit was really steep, 152 Meters have never been so long in my entire life! We could also have taken a chairlift, but we decided on the physical challenge… At the top there was a one hour circular walk, including stops at lookouts where we experienced great views over village and its surroundings. It was only 18 degrees Celsius but it felt much warmer… result : sunburned.

After the Nut we went to discover the area around the harbour and we made dinner reservations in the Hursey Seafoods restaurant. The restaurant turned out a bit noisy, but the food was absolutely delicious…

We then visited the main street with the typical colonial houses and ended our visit with an ice coffee, milkshake and cake on the porch of the Speckled Hen Cafe.

On our way back to the Seaview Inn, we stopped for a picture of us inside a big photo frame with a view of the Nut and the town. It was just like a postcard !
