We have been nominated for the above mentioned Award by Angela Gaft from the Suitecase4you travel blog and would like to thank her for this appreciation ! We are very happy to receive such a nomination, especially since we are newbies at blogging (all in all 4 weeks so that says it all :-)). It will give us some extra motivation to keep posting !
Angela shares in her blog her experiences on how to travel inexpensively but still comfortable and how to see as much as possible in a short period of time. We even discovered tips about travelling in Belgium (our home country) :-). How good is that ! Looking forward to read all her future posts…
We are bit by bit discovering what it takes to maintain a blog and a website and it has been very interesting up till now :-), that’s the least we can say… We also noticed that there are so many persons sharing information on travels and other topics, it is just amazing !
What is the Black Cat Blue Sea Award?
This award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.
Rules
1) Anybody nominated, can nominate seven other bloggers.
2) Anybody nominated answers three questions.
3) The question you ask while nominating can be any three questions.
4) If any of the question asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.
Our 3 nominees are:
We are still discovering a lot of new travel blogs and there will be others deserving a nomination, but here our top 3 for now in no specific order:
I’ve Bean Travelling : The travel & food blog of Jess
Our African Ramblings : A travel blog by Mateja and Jurij who are bitten by the Safari bug
Get lost with Patrick : A travel blog in Dutch by Patrick who wants to inspire you for your future travels
Our questions to nominees are:
- What was your best travel destination ever ?
- What was the most inspiring travel blog that you ever read ?
- Was there anything you would have wanted to know before you started your blog ?
Questions from Angela to us were:
- What was your inspiration when creating your blog? Well, after having read so many inspiring travel blogs and trip reports that were an inspiration for us when composing our travel itineraries, it seemed a good idea to organise our own travel stories on a website and why not share it with others that could be interested?
- What skill would you like to learn and why? More IT skills would come in handy when dealing with your own website 🙂
- How do you imagine a perfect day? Any holiday is a perfect day 🙂
Thanks and congratulations, Anne & Koen
Dear Anne, thank you so much for this nomination. If you don’t mind, I’ll answer the questions asked here.
1. What was your best travel destination ever ?
This one is impossible to answer. It is like trying to decide, which is your favorite child. All our traveling destinations so far have been amazing. But if I would really need to narrow it down to a more confined area, of course, the answer would be: “Anywhere in Africa”. 😉
2. What was the most inspiring travel blog that you ever read ?
Without a doubt: “Slow Donkey through Africa” from Stan and Anne Weakley. Among self-driving overlanders in Africa, this is widely recognized as the modern overlanding Bible. Packed with information from their ovralnding trip from South Africa through Eastern Africa, all the way to Sudan and back. Unfortunately, it’s online version is currently not operational, but PDF files of their daily dispatches do circulate around.
3. Was there anything you would have wanted to know before you started your blog ?
Yes, would have liked to know that maintaining a blog is so much fun!
Best, Jurij
Thanks Jurij for answering the questions 🙂 and congratulations again with your website/blog. It is really a piece of work, I can only imagine how much time you have invested in it ! But totally worth it.
Somehow, I could have expected your answer on question 1. I have not seen someone who has travelled so many countries in Africa as you did. I will need a lot more time to read all your stories but they will be a great inspiration for our future travels and Africa is certainly on our list (especially for the wildlife, I just love it).
I am definitely going to look for the blog that you mentioned (even if only available in pdf), I am curious now :-).
Maintaining a blog is indeed a lot of fun, I also did not expect it (and I hope that after the first months have passed, it will remain like that :-)). Thanks again and you may find me from time to time checking out your trip reports. Kind regards, Anne
Is that possible to add “like” button to your posts please. It will be easy yo show my appreciation. Thanks !
Hi Angela, I had put the like button initially, but it seemed to work only for visitors with a wordpress account and for others it required the to register so I removed it… I am still looking for a solution 🙂
Hi Angela,
I found a solution for that, but outside WordPress unfortunately since for that one visitors had to have an account and most visitors of my blog are not on WordPress at all…
But thanks for mentioning it… it was something I was struggling with and never got to it to solve it :-).
Anne
Thank you Anne! It works.
Thank you very much Anne and Koen for participating in the nomination and taking time to answer my questions! I like your answers and your questions for next nominees!
I really like Belgium. Absolutely wonderful country. I had a very enjoyable trip, and definitely will write more stories about it.
I like your blog and always enjoy reading and following your stories!
Thank you so much for the nomination and kind words! I’m enjoying your blog so far, looking forward to reading more about your travels as you write more. 🙂
