Yellowstone Lake & West Thumb Geyser
Today, we were leaving Yellowstone National Park through the South Exit. The plan was to visit Yellowstone Lake and the West Thumb Geyser Basin before continuing towards The Grand Teton National Park. Our final destination was Jackson Hole.
We started the day at Yellowstone Lake where we took some pictures and then we continued our way to the South.
We stopped several times since the views were just amazing. We did the boardwalk tour at the West Thumb Geyser Basin and saw the geyser located in the lake. It was so picturesque.
Then we drove to the South exit and made our way towards the Grand Teton National Park. We had hoped to spot a bear or a moose, but the only animals we saw were a chipmunk, an elk and some geese. Well, it was better than nothing !
Grand Teton National Park
The drive towards and inside The Grand Teton National Park was very beautiful, we stopped a few times to take some pictures.
We also visited the visitor centre and stopped at the ‘bear spray’ section. We did not purchase it before entering Yellowstone National Park, because we thought that bears would in any case stay away from tourists (at least those places that are mostly frequented). We also had no clue how to use it…
Jackson Hole
We arrived in Jackson hole in the afternoon, a town with cowboy roots. The town square was known for its arch made of antlers.
We stayed at the Ranch Inn, a motel conveniently located near the town centre. We left our luggage in the room and we went for a walk. There were some nice shops and galleries. We decided to check out the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
From what we could see, the bar was mainly frequented by tourists, but that was fine for us. The decor had a western feel to it and the seats at the bar where saddles. We ordered a cocktails and spicy chicken wings… and for me afterwards a sprite to cool down from the ‘spice’ 🙂
