Southern Ridges Walk
Early start of the day because we absolutely wanted to do the hike of the Southern Ridges. It was a walk that connected several parks. It was recommended to start the hike from the harbour front, with a climb of 15-20 minutes. But we decide to start from Labrador park instead. If it would be more difficult, so be it.
We had to take three metros to get there, but we never had to wait very long. Public transport in Singapore was so efficient, you should come and experience it in Belgium :-). Time between two metro’s was a maximum of 3-4 minutes.
We started the trail at the Alexandra Arch. We walked over treetop bridges through the rainforest (forest trail), then via the Henderson Waves towards Mount Faber where we had the possibility to take a cable car to Sentosa. We decided to continue the walk via the Marang Trail and we ended up at the harbour front. Here we dived into yet another shopping complex.
Sentosa
After a short discovery of Vivocity, we took the monorail to Sentosa, also called the fun island. We ignored Universal studios and Madame Tussaud and went immediately to the S.E.A. Aquarium and the Maritime Experiental Museum. The aquarium was really worth it, very big and lots of sharks. There was a long queue in the water tunnel because everyone had to take its picture with the fish.
Then we explored Sentosa a bit and we decided to have lunch at a dumpling restaurant. We were able to watch how the dumplings and wontons were made. It was not possible to eat them fresher and we certainly could taste the difference.
They melted like butter in our mouth. But they were very hot!
Today, it was the hottest day since our arrival in Singapore with a very high humidity. In the afternoon, we returned to the hotel and we went for another swim.
Clarke Quay
The end of the holiday was near so it became more difficult to decide what we still wanted to do and what not. At the top of my list was still to eat at Jumbo Seafoods. I had been looking forward to it for weeks. We registered us for a table and had to wait between 60 and 90 minutes, But it was so worth it ! During our wait, we visited Clarke Quay and in the evening, it looked more lively than during the day. Some bars and restos however, were almost empty, but others had long queues in front of them.
After half an hour we passed by the restaurant again to check if our table would be ready earlier than foreseen and we got lucky. We ordered the chilli crab with different vegetables. The sauce, OMG, even though it was very spicy – it was probably the best sauce I had ever eaten. The crab, you had to eat with your hands and it was of course very greasy. One napkin was not sufficient, and luckily I had followed the suggestions of fellow travellers on Tripadvisor, so I had a package of napkins in my bag.
Again, a day and evening to remember!
